Student Assistant Employment Application

The Office of Multicultural Student Life typically employs 10-14 work study students during the fall and spring semesters, to ensure smooth running of the department. Please go to OneStop to ensure you are eligible for and have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS.) Apply for open positions at JobX Find A Job prior to filling out the MSL FWS Student Assistant Employment Application below, which is required to determine your availability. The Office of Multicultural Student Life (MSL) recognizes the importance of a student’s responsibility to his/her academic curriculum. All MSL FWS student employees must hold a GPA of 2.5 or higher when hired, and must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA during his/her employment with MSL. FWS Students should carry a minimum of six (6) credit hours during employment.

FWS student employees may work a maximum of up to twenty hours per week, and a minimum of 10 hours during the fall and spring semesters, dependent on Federal Work Study award. No FWS student will be eligible to work for the University of Tennessee more than 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. The MSL staff recommends no more than 15 hours per week in order to maintain a healthy balance of work, academics, and other involvement.
