Graduate Research Assistant
Shanndor is a Nashville native, who has found a second home here at the University of Tennessee. In 2012, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and began a career in the mental health field. For three years, she served underrepresented populations in not only the area of mental health, but education as well. In 2015, she earned her Master’s in Social Work, where she focused specifically on the needs of students of color in the K- 12 education system. Though she enjoyed her work, the triple-VOL status beckoned.
So in 2016, Shanndor returned to the University of Tennessee to pursue a Juris Doctorate degree. She hopes to utilize this law degree to further aid underrepresented populations. Shanndor was thrilled when she was given the opportunity to join the Office of Multicultural Student Life. She loves working with people and is excited about the opportunity to work with students at the university level. She hopes to use her past experiences to assist with UT’s next wave of future leaders, while striving to maintain MSL’s mission of graduating students prepared for a diverse global society.
When Shanndor is not helping students (or buried under a mountain of law books), you can find her baking things with unnecessarily high calories counts, shopping like she has an indispensable bank account, or vacationing like she means it. Haven’t met her yet? Come on down to the Office of Multicultural Student Life and say hello!
