Chris Mendoza

Coordinator for Multicultural Student Life

Chris is originally from Miami, FL and joined the Multicultural Student Life (MSL) Staff in September 2018. Chris completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics from Macalester College in Saint Paul, MN and is currently completing a Master of Interdisciplinary Studies Degree with concentrations in Public Administration (Student Affairs Track), Communication and Leadership from Southern Utah University in Cedar City, UT.

Chris is incredibly passionate about working towards community uplift for marginalized folks through an intersectional lens. Prior to joining the Office of Multicultural Student Life, Chris served for a year as the Coordinator of the Center for Diversity & Inclusion at Southern Utah University. This and his experiences as a diversity representative in his undergraduate student government made him realize the importance of advocacy where marginalized folks in positions of opportunity pay it forward to uplift the next generation. Chris is excited to work with UT students and encourages them to be bold in the pride of who they are.

In his spare time, Chris enjoys cooking, learning about fashion, fantasizing over death drops and voguing, and attending arts & cultural events in the community. Chris draws inspiration from from the words: “When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak.” – Audre Lorde
