Shawnboda Mead, Associate Director, Diversity and Multicultural Education


Shawnboda was born and raised in the small town of Prentiss, MS. She comes to us from the University of Southern Mississippi where she served as Assistant Director of Residence Life for the last 4 years. Shawnboda also spent time at Texas A&M University where she worked in The Leadership and Service Center. Shawnboda’s interest in student affairs developed during her time as an undergraduate at Mississippi State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Educational Psychology. She also earned a Master of Arts in Education degree in Student Affairs from Western Kentucky University.

In her role as Associate Director, Shawnboda will advise the Black Cultural Programming Committee and be responsible for the Annual Black Issues Conference, Safe Zone training, and multicultural programming efforts. She is committed to serving all underrepresented students and very passionate about diversity and social justice education. Her favorite quote is “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

Shawnboda loves spending time with her family, traveling, and watching her favorite tv episodes. She also values her involvement in the Southern Association of College Student Affairs (SACSA).
