Day of Dialogue: Campus-Wide Diversity Symposium

The Office of Multicultural Student Life will partner with various campus offices and academic departments to host a one-day, campus-wide diversity symposium. The "Day of Dialogue" will provide a meaningful out-of-class experience and foster a campus environment where students are free to discuss cultural differences. The symposium will provide an opportunity to engage the campus community in a dialogue about current topics related to diversity. All students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members of all backgrounds are welcomed to participate. This event is certain to have a lasting impact as all participants will be encouraged to take what they learn to enhance the campus environment and make a positive difference for all members of the university community.

Day of Dialogue Agenda

We are pleased to announce Dr. Art Munin as this year’s keynote speaker. As a creative and insightful speaker, Art has the unique ability to connect with any audience through his genuine style, thought provoking ideas, and humor. Born on the south side of Chicago, Art grew up in a middle-class neighborhood consisting of Chicago police officers, firefighters, and other laborers. Although he was raised in one of the most diverse cities in the country, his surroundings were largely segregated by race. This experience of being raised in an area still grappling everyday with racism and discrimination is an experience drawn upon often in his workshops. Art still lives in his hometown, but now resides on the north side. He continues to work in higher education as the Dean of Students at DePaul University.
